 Did You Know? In the state of Tennessee, there are about 323,913 people who have a mental handicap of some kind? The number of people with a Developmental Disability and/or a physical handicap of some kind are estimated as high as 22% of the total population. There are 106 Baptist Churches in the Holston Baptist Association. Very few have programs for these special needs. Developmental Disabilities touch, in one way or another, approximately one out of every four families in Tennessee. There are tens of thousands of people with Developmental Disabilities living in our state that have no church in their community that will welcome them. The Holston Baptist Association can help you and your church to start a Special Education Ministry.
